I HEARD THE WIND SPEAK OF YOU - A POEM BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
I heard the wind speak of you.
The waves whispered secrets
That I could barely understand,
And yet, and yet, I craved to meet
This fabled creature never found
On this earth in this life, until,
One day I wrote a poem and
I felt your eyes upon it and
Following the gaze found at last
The hidden woman I had sought.

WOMAN STILL OF MYSTERY - A POEM BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
Woman, She
Ebony or ivory,
Or somewhere in between,
Perhaps beyond,
Woman still of mystery,
And tantalizing landscape,
Of her hard tipped hills,
Softly rolling velvet plains
Her warm welcoming grotto
Of earthy delights,
Which transport
These two loving mortals
To lands of uncommon
Fantasy and ecstasy.

HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, DECEMBER 7, 2021 - LOVE, PLEASURE, DREAMS, NAKEDNESS
woman as you are
the entirety of you...
needed and desired
-----
from dreams emerging
lover clad in my desires...
gossamer raiment
-----
make no promises
words wander off in the wind
place love in my hands
-----
her soft shy buds swell
awakened by lover's touch
warm breathless kisses
-----
show bold nakedness
call courage to bare ourselves
so love may know all
-----
you will never see
those deep scars i keep hidden...
which bleed words daily
-----
each word on the page
first was a wound on my soul...
which will never heal
-----
how a dream should end
you beside me as i sleep...
still there as i wake
-----
our private pleasure
exploring each other's lands...
love's an adventure
-----
you smiled at my words
seeing what i could not see...
i discovered me

POEM: SIMPLICITY OF HER SEDUCTION
Totally unaware and unintended,
The naturalness of the woman
Who could not believe her own beauty,
No matter how often I might tell her,
That spoke to me and drew me closer
Heated by the reality of her own inner
And most genuine passion which
I could see but she felt compelled to hide,
Became my guiding torch, my muse,
And put the erotic spirit into my poetry,
As I desired to love her fully the only way
I ever could, even if she never knew the truth.

I SOMETIMES SIN, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN JUNE 19, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
I sometimes sin.
You are absent...
I take your hand,
Phantom thing,
Guide it as if
You were to touch me,
Closing my eyes
With the pleasure
Of the moment
Imagined as only
I can alone
And your hand
Is so far away,
Yet I feel your touch
And that's the sin.
-----
In my fragile understanding of woman.
She introduced me to personal
Intricacies of her body, guiding
An innocent boy, longing to learn,
Along her lustful loving
pathways of pure passion,
Love taken to loftiest levels,
Stripped of sin, made holy
Blazing with innocent intensity.
-----
From warm air to cool water,
Skin prickling, tingling
As I slipped deeper into
The loving ocean which,
Unlike the air and sun
Dared touch all over
Raising, rousing,
All young senses,
Bringing dreams,
As I floated,
Embraced in
Its loving
Familiar
Way.
-----
true lovers embrace no shame in their nakedness... expose everything
-----
Memories of boyhood,
Blackberries, bicycles,
Swimming in the bay,
And baseball.
The thunk thunk thunk
Of the ball slapping
Into our gloves,
Crack of bat on ball, trying
To pitch like Whitey Ford,
Hit like Mickey Mantle,
Field like Nellie Fox
At the age of twelve.
-----
Couldn't hear the words
But, from the waving of arms,
The golfers were quite angry,
We boys wondering why they
Were so bothered as we
Rode our bicycles across
The first and eighteenth
Fairways, between tee and cup.
-----
never sought my love
watched dawn beside the ocean...
hoped she would find me

SHE'S NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN JUNE 13 & 14, 2020
She's not afraid to speak
Telling her hidden truths,
For I have been and seen and done
So much...
So many places,
So many times,
Becoming myself,
Who offers not forgiveness,
But understanding,
Recognizing her
Loving humanity,
Which makes her such
A desirable woman.
-----
reads my heated words
not insensitive to touch...
she blushes and sighs
-----
alone she rises
climbing to her mountain top...
embracing freedom
-----
my submissive queen
gives in to her own demands...
in love with herself
-----
flings open her words
stands so nakedly exposed...
i read her bold mind
-----
her secret moments
touching with carnal desire...
wishing he could share
-----
not a hard paved road
moon path flutters on the waves...
liquid cobblestones
-----
words don't bother her
his intensity matters...
his arousing voice
-----
she entered my life
in all her varieties...
fulfilling all needs
-----
cold and shivering
quickened by our hot passions,
quivers with delight

YOU ARE WHEAT FIELD, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN JUNE 1, 2020
You are wheat field,
A sea of uncut grass,
An oasis, soft dewy
Resting place of
Refreshment, a loving
Embrace and sharing
Of self in the most
Intimate of ways,
Unashamed and naked,
A natural land of
Hard tipped hills
Volcanic forces
Quivering before
A climactic eruption.
-----
her lips are smiling
her hand is beckoning me...
how can i say no
-----
send me a selfie
no photo but your true words...
to remember you
-----
she rains upon me
bold storm from gentle lover...
left wet and shaking
-----
your taste on my lips
feel of your body on mine...
leaving me longing
-----
writing words for her
she quivers at their touches...
at poems within

THE WOMAN INSIDE, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN APRIL 18, 2020
the woman inside
passionate wanton lover...
aching to be found
-----
Words take the place of things,
For, not having this or that,
To show or give,
I scribe marks to tell
Of things known,
Imagined,
Despised,
Desired,
Things touched or only thought,
That each of us may know...
Or not, but, seek to learn of,
And so, I make marks into words,
That others may interpret,
Thoughts hidden in our minds.
-----
behind broken clouds
sun yawns makes his appearance
shuts off his alarm
-----
what do the trees know
youngsters when compared to rocks...
i listen to both
-----
bathed in summer rain
nature's love upon my skin...
each drop a caress
-----
so far from water
yet i can hear and feel it...
ocean in my blood
-----
in silence of night
echo many memories...
vivid in the dark
-----
How stony still the figures,
Of these lovers stay,
Caught in euphoric ecstasy,
Forever exchanging love
Which flows eternally between,
Inciting a stimulation,
A moving current
In each observer,
Moving embodiment of the
Two lovers in sculpted embrace.
-----
Each day, I turn my back to the sunrise
Only to find it taking over the sky before me.
So it is with so many things we try to ignore,
They happen anyway, forcing us to deal with them
Unexpectedly and without preparation.

DEDICATION TO UNKNOWN FRIEND, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN MARCH 10, 2020
Dedication to unknown friend,
Perhaps lover?
Escamillo to Carmen?
Emilio to Christina?
Romeo to Juliet?
Cyrano to Roxanne?
Danny to Sandy?
A few lines of dedication,
Strangers' names,
On an inside page
Of poetry by Pablo Neruda
Rescued from a bin
Of second hand books
In Cincinnati.
Yet no strangers
To a poet.
Who were they?
Persons I'll never know,
Their affection understood,
Recorded for posterity,
Here with me.
-----
in predawn darkness
beneath silver moon I rise
aching for your touch
-----
tell me fantasies
secrets no one else may know
i'll make them come true
-----
moans and arching back
parted lips smoldering gaze
reward my touches
-----
Your naked garden
Blooms beneath my gaze
Growing higher
Brighter still,
Rising to the brushing of
My soft caresses...
Then...
Stroking your stippled skin
With tips of fingers,
Softer than
The petals of a rose,
You bloom and blossom,
Aching bud
Opening to
The warm
And loving pleasure
Of my touch.
-----
Let yourself be lover,
The woman who has always
Been hidden so deeply
Inside your being
Awaiting someone
To speak the truth to,
To share the erotic essence
Of your beating heart,
Taking his hand,
Placing it upon your breast
To share with him
The warmest kisses,
Most daring caresses,
And sweetest secrets,
Of your body
And your heart...
Let yourself be lover,
In that way,
Within the two guardians
Of my embracing arms,
My Love.
-----
Woman, she,
Ebony or ivory,
Or somewhere in between,
Perhaps beyond,
Woman still of mystery,
And tantalizing landscape,
Of her hard tipped hills,
Softly rolling velvet plains
Her warm welcoming grotto
Of earthy delights,
Which transport
These two loving mortals
To lands of uncommon
Fantasy and ecstasy.
-----
Twice my age,
She'd lived and loved
Twice as much as me
In years,
Multitudes more in love
Her body old
With years, but too
With experience
She shared
Passing me by
The obstacles
She had faced
And conquered,
Teaching me
The end made
The journey,
And the journey,
Was the pleasant way
To reach the end,
And begin again.
-----
leave me not tonight
forsaking body left with
memory's embers
-----
i've written your name
using ink of poetry
in secret places
-----
her fiery kisses
lead me willingly astray
never to return
-----
one taste of honey
from your unfolding blossom
dizzy with delight
-----
we carry so much
and pride can be heaviest
better share burdens
-----
lovers understand
intoxicating language
of kisses and touch
-----
wildly embracing
lovers toss off more than clothes
with all their restraints

HER COMPLEXITIES, AND OTHER POETRY BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN MARCH 8, 2020
her complexities
geometric progressions...
to convexities
-----
Having caught sight of love
Two daring adventurers
Set sail on stormy seas,
Bound together in their
Explorations of exciting land,
New sensations shared
And sensed again and again,
For the bold pleasure
They find on their
Ocean of love in
One another's arms.
-----
i will kiss your neck
pressing my body to yours
breath warm on your back
-----
met and guided in
welcomed with more than nuance
buried deep within
-----
to simply touch her
to have that moment that right...
within her desires
-----
bold passionate words
shadows of reality...
making love to her
-----
craving caresses
captive of carnal desires...
my helpless body
-----
far beyond delight
busty woman back arching...
her blossom blushing
-----
admire her necklace
touching her bosom gently...
she smiles her consent
(Inspired by lines from Vidyapati Bangiya Padabali, by Vidyapati Thakura)
-----
wildly beating heart
highest moment of desire...
her secrets set free
-----
many ways we kiss
playful lips wandering hands
bring joint ecstasy
-----
skilled in passion's lore
she thinks herself innocent
but her heart holds fire
-----
her womanly wiles
so completely seductive
exposing her mind
-----
passion flows oe'r us
who could turn the tide or would
when wet in its waves
-----
arms crossed and on guard
keeping her secrets hidden...
but not from my thoughts

POEMS AND HAIKU WRITTEN JANUARY 11, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
softer than my dreams
warmer than my heart's desires
very real woman
-----
neath so many stars
high roof of nature's boudoir
make love by moonlight
-----
Speak not to me,
Of what "man" is or is not,
For each of these homonids,
So difficult to define
Or understand,
Is different...
From neighbor,
From stranger,
From yesterday's self,
From another century's ancestor,
From future progeny...
From 6 AM this morning.
-----
How did it happen?
What does it mean?
Two different questions,
Yet, two sides of one coin,
Perhaps, for, so much of existence,
Must, for we humans,
Be explained...
In its origins and antecedents
And our predictions and
Expectations.
-----
I've heard it said that perception is reality. David Hume differentiates between essentially outward perceptions, which he calls "impressions", and, essentially inner perceptions, which he calls "ideas". Both are perceptions, and both can rule us.
-----
hoofbeats like drumbeats
history's heartbeats happen
begin the story
-----
Tale of Two Cities,
An early adventure tale for me,
I read of the stage
"lumbering up Shooter's Hill".
Even then the poet
I latched on those words,
And, years later, 1981,
In a 4 cylinder Opel,
Lumbered up Shooter's Hill,
Myself,
In awe of tracing Dickens'
Fictional coach, and,
That my own ancient chariot,
Had made it.
-----
Claude Du Val, the highwayman,
Stopped the Highgate stage,
Gentlemanly sort of thief,
I'm told, by the ladies,
Lightened of their valuables,
And, perhaps of a few sighs,
For he was a polite and gallant lad,
Or so I'm told, although,
A gent, lightened of their purse
Seems to think otherwise.
-----
I don't want to die,
But I,
Will raise my hand again,
Take the oath,
And then,
Shoulder pack and rifle,
Move forward,
Do not trifle,
For I am veteran,
Woman, man,
Proud of what I was,
And will be again, because,
I belive in the oath I said,
So you sleep peacefully in bed.
-----
i'm so far away
let me be there making love
touch yourself for me

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, SEPTEMBER 25, 2019
Old man with a scythe,
Swinging, stepping,
Endless rhythm,
Except for garb,
Cars passing
On asphalt,
Could have been a scene,
A reality of an ancient time,
Time passes, tick, tock,
Calendar pages fall,
Year by year,
Decade by decade,
To the scythe's rhythm.
-----
you know i'm looking
let's not pretend otherwise
it pleases us both
-----
one soft helpless sigh
paean of fulfilled desire
love's quiet refrain
-----
our love costs nothing
but we barter our favors
often tit for tat
-----
so nicely naughty
stepping out of her garments
and into my arms
-----
at my love's approach
quivering with excitement
she embraces me
-----
of your past who cares
for it made you the woman
who knows how to please
-----
i bring you presents
sweet gifts for bad behavior
performed just for me
-----
festively adorned
daring in chiffon and lace
for our revelry

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, SEPTEMBER 22, 2019
The ones so long held within,
Kept captive in your breast
For fear of censure upon
Your baring of desire.
Speak, love, I command,
Those words to me,
For I would know every truth,
Having you beautiful and naked
In both my arms and heart.
-----
no preconceptions
be whoever you must be
that's who i would love
-----
taste of smoothest cream
eat her delicious dessert
hard sweet cherry treat
-----
tribal memory
ancient stories of lovers
woven in our lives
-----
desert oasis
in the heat and emptiness
you cool my fever
-----
i gladly enter
into the divine abyss
of a woman's love
-----
erotic flavor
your taste lingers in my mouth
after your flower's kiss
-----
pressing against me
imprinting yourself on me
marked by my woman
-----
lacy filigree
soft hair surrounding your face
frame to work of art

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, SEPTEMBER 18, 2019
blushing in silver array
her desire aflame
-----
wide open we are
no shame or embarrassment
for we share it all
-----
sweet marmalade lips
smiling openly offer
her morning kisses
-----
curving in moonbeams
gleaming silver her body
goddess and lover
-----
lead me to your edge
igniting desires until
i burst with my need
-----
quivering body
parted lips wordless murmurs
moment of climax
-----
the taste of moonlight
spilling from silken petals
to my eager mouth
-----
love's gates open wide
secret succulent garden
where goddess feeds me
-----
lovers tied up tight
bound in ardent positions
prepare for release
-----
slip into my love
gliding over your body
in constant caress
-----
words scrawled in passion
meaningless til heard and felt
even more... believed
