By Donovan Baldwin

Come near and be my stranger,
Pretend we've never met before
In other lands and lives.
Let's be this moment's lovers
Free to fall in love as
Rapidly as we met, ignorant
Of past sins and obligations,
Content to spend this night,
In its condensed eternity before
Life and time move us
Apart once more.

THE WOMAN INSIDE, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN APRIL 18, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

the woman inside
passionate wanton lover...
aching to be found

-----

Words take the place of things,
For, not having this or that,
To show or give,
I scribe marks to tell
Of things known,
Imagined,
Despised,
Desired,
Things touched or only thought,
That each of us may know...
Or not, but, seek to learn of,
And so, I make marks into words,
That others may interpret,
Thoughts hidden in our minds.

-----

behind broken clouds
sun yawns makes his appearance
shuts off his alarm

-----

what do the trees know
youngsters when compared to rocks...
i listen to both

-----

bathed in summer rain
nature's love upon my skin...
each drop a caress

-----

so far from water
yet i can hear and feel it...
ocean in my blood

-----

in silence of night
echo many memories...
vivid in the dark

-----

How stony still the figures,
Of these lovers stay,
Caught in euphoric ecstasy,
Forever exchanging love
Which flows eternally between,
Inciting a stimulation,
A moving current
In each observer,
Moving embodiment of the
Two lovers in sculpted embrace.

-----

Each day, I turn my back to the sunrise
Only to find it taking over the sky before me.
So it is with so many things we try to ignore,
They happen anyway, forcing us to deal with them
Unexpectedly and without preparation.

SOME POEMS AREN'T WORDS, AND OTHER POETRY BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN FEBRUARY 28, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

some poems aren't words
but sighs or gasps moans or looks...
spoken by lovers

-----

sweet innocence
submitting to our bold desires
two carnal lovers

-----

breathless with desire
roused by his heated touch
proud turgid tautness

-----

her hidden dagger
rising at his intrusion
is drawn from its sheathe

-----

bored she chose to do
something more exciting so...
she played with her toys

-----

cast raiment aside
society's requirements...
dance naked for me

-----

two piece pajamas
top for you bottom for me...
on the bedroom floor

-----

a bedtime story
to relax or stimulate
which one tonight dear

-----

love's a liquid thing
flowing waters of desire
demanding release

-----

my mystic writings
my magical poetry
my raison d'ĂȘtre

THE MOON WAS WATCHING, AND OTHER POETRY BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN FEBRUARY 25, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

the moon was watching
as we made love in her light
heavenly voyeur

-----

my love's blossom drips
a hot nectar of desire
soothing elixir

-----

expose your true self
drop all veils of sin and shame
show yourself naked

-----

write me your story
with your heart mouth hands and eyes
tell me everything

-----

language confuses
we speak love physically
communicating

-----

poet hearing words
whispers on the evening breeze
paper cannot hold

-----

eyes dance to music
her warm smile the song's echo
turns to me... i hear

-----

touch her words lightly
examine them by candlelight
press them to my heart

-----

tilting her goblet
sharing love's magic potion
she pours into me

-----

your curving contours
drawn by my gliding fingers
warm as imagined

CAPTURED ON CANVAS, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN, FEBRUARY 15, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

captured on canvas
moment of revelation
offering her love

-----

her exciting path
hard tipped hills to soft grotto
loving interlude

-----

throbbing emotion
sounds of romantic effort
then a blissful rest

-----

she cannot hold still
overcome by my kisses
a movable feast

-----

let her blossom stay
you must visit where it blooms
for if plucked will die

-----

bare to open air
lovers of and in nature
sex under the sun

-----

in her sweet repose
seducing in slumber
her sworn guardian

-----

water pelting flesh
four soapy hands exploring
lovers showering

-----

reaching around me
intentionally brushing
provocatively

-----

though i use no words
you understand my touches
wordlessly reply

-----

let not the dream fade
keep it bright and beautiful
as if beginning

TWO DISTANT LOVERS, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN BY DONOVAN BALDWIN JANUARY 28, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

two distant lovers
crave blistering caresses
and soothing kisses

only touch with words
seeking within messages
the passion they desire

share bold fantasies
secret moments in each night
they must love alone

-----

i flute play you lute
fingering ecstatic chords
as you blow love's notes

-----

lovers intertwined
sensuous penetration
pressing approval

-----

it's no sacrifice
all i have i give freely
for what you give me

-----

heated bodies glow
sweat of their desire reflects
fires burning within

-----

passionate heartbeats
keeping time with the bed springs
then sudden silence

-----

she hides in her room
no one may see these secrets
but her absent love

----

kisses full of words
hands not still she loves with all
body a caress

TOUCH WITHOUT TOUCHING, AND OTHER POETRY BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN JANUARY 26, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

touch without touching
inner thrills and vibrations
penetrating thoughts

-----

gasping and grasping
lovers fall beneath the weight
of heavy desires

-----

succumbing to our
intensity of feelings
with maddened passion

-----

Entranced he noted
How ample her heart,
How alluring her mind,
How appealing her words,
She was everything he dreamed,
And she made love with him
In so many ways beyond
What the human body
Could begin to
Understand.

-----

slip into my bed
wrap me in your loving warmth
leave me exhausted

-----

dive in deep waters
bathed within your warming love
currents of amour

-----

please don't be subtle
take my hand and guide my touch
let's play show and tell

AS IF SUN'S OWN LIGHT, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN JANUARY 13, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

By Donovan Baldwin

as if sun's own light
a far flung radiation
essence of true love

moon reflected back
so that by darkest of nights
we remain aware

this wondrous event
illuminating lovers
cast so far apart

-----

on separate isles
gazing cross a sea of dreams
with eyes of desire

-----

fingers in your hair
lips to lips pressed and open
trembling with passion

-----

most erotic tale
we write with touches as words
traced upon our skin

-----

more to our kisses
passionately uniting
mouths bodies and souls

-----

wrapped in our warm arms
bodies protect each other
naked love at home

-----

i write of my touch
your soft quiver of delight
our private story

-----

my so youthful words
belie the reality
of the ancient man

-----

why do i love her
quite the naughty lass she is
that's one good reason

-----

i know the moon has
secrets lovers keep hidden
for she told me yours

-----

play me light moon tunes
soft silver notes of snowfall
whispering to trees

-----

immortal the sea
her rhythmic waves beat in me
for eternity

-----

i bow before grace
upon rising of the sun
grateful at your feet

-----

Call me acolyte.
All lasts but as long
As we remember,
Speak names and words,
Others have forgotten,
Or never known,
But, with time,
That world
A shrinking memory
Grows
Smaller,
Dimmer,
And can only glow,
Remain almost as bright,
If someone
Tends its flame,
As I choose to do.

POEMS WRITTEN JANUARY 4, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

we read together
fingers rubbing the letters
of our love story

-----

reading in the dark
her solo pursuit in braille
illumination

-----

my thoughts brushed gently
across mind's tender surface
raise expectations

-----

such tender passions
grasping coupling and gasping
crying out as one

-----

dreams upon the dawn
small boats my fleet bound for troy
to rescue my love

-----

lips parted she gasps
my fingers little lovers
our mouths tightly sealed

-----

She bathes in soft water,
Warm caressing wavelets
Surrounding skin,
Causing sensations, or,
Sin-sations?
She is smilingly
Aware of more
Than simply water
In the bath, but,
All invasive pleasure,
Which fills each
Bit of skin exposed
To the touch of
The silken fluid,
And her own
Gliding hands.

-----

guide my hands boldly
among your brave caresses
so share your pleasure

-----

my ten bold fingers
write a thousand fantasies
on your soft pages

-----

you're so many things
bright butterflies and rainbows
laughter in the night

-----

i listen for you
words you whisper to my heart
perfect poetry

-----

well trained soldier i
standing at stiff attention
making bold salute

-----

let's make love again
this time i'll close my eyes as
you read the poem

-----

you know exactly
when where and how to touch me
with your hands and words

-----

dew upon my tongue
mixed with your sweetest honey
flowing from your lips

-----

i have no desire
to recover from my sins
i liked them too much

-----

tempted by your heat
lured by your burning flower
molten in your flames

------
my special lady
loves to sit upon my knee
daddy's little girl

POEMS WRITTEN JANUARY 2, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

i'll find love today
in the place i always do
within your embrace

-----

show me your words babe
naked thoughts upon the stage
stripped down and open

-----

our pages touching
loving livre de chevet
each word a caress

(livre de chevet = bedside book)

-----

let's write together
a love story to be banned
too hot to handle

-----

Draw lovers naked
For if clothed,
They must still show
All that they are
To the other,
Expect to see
Everything
When they gaze upon
Their loved one.
No secrets or veils
No shame or
Embarrassment
Between true lovers.
Show them naked,
For naked they
Should always be.

-----

I gaze across the Texas prairie,
Stretching westward to infinity,
Or at least New Mexico,
Under the rolling gray clouds.
I've traveled beneath those clouds,
Or at least, their brethren,
In so many parts of the world,
The soft, billowing gray clouds,
Which should be sad,
Or at least, you'd think they were,
For I could travel forever
Gladly within their
Stormy promise of adventure.

-----

dying candle light
the rising of morning sun
smiles of remembrance

-----

Black deserted streets,
Shining wetly in moonlight,
Bright white snow on rooftops
And treetops,
Golden glow of windows
Upon the silent pathway,
The sounds of laughter,
Zither music and song
Spilling out like a
Motion picture postcard,
As a lonely soldier,
Thousands of miles from home,
Saved the memory for later.

-----

my words are flowers
i'll cover you with petals
tenderly fragrant

-----

michelangelo
i stand in admiration
in reverent awe

-----

Leaves which died
In Autumn,
So bravely and
So beautifully
Brilliant in
Their livery of
Golds and reds,
Now lie,
Dead soldiers,
Drab brown and gray,
Like photographs
From older wars,
In the cold pools,
Of nature's tears,
To be recalled only
In verse and photo,
Reminders of
Forgotten adventures.

POEM: ONE NIGHT THE MOON...

By Donovan Baldwin

One night the moon shone down on me,

As I sat upon the sand at water's edge.

She asked politely, for the Moon is a lady,

"Why do you sit here on this shore alone?"

I replied, "I love someone so very far away."

"Then tell her this," the Moon said, gently.

I shook my head, as a dark cloud crossed

The sky, and the face, of the caring Moon.

"This I cannot do," said I, head bowed.

"Duty binds me here, too far away."

A chill wind blew across dark water,

And, I shivered, both with cold and loss.

Warm Moon spoke, "My light will speak for you.

I will shine down outside her home each night,

With poems and messages of love you send,

So, she, seeing me, will think of you."

I asked, "How will she ever know, that,

Your silver beams are messages of love,

Sent by this humble poet?" I asked in doubt.

Moon smiled brightly at my lack of faith.

"She will know," sweet Moon replied,

"She already knows my beams are love.

Until now, she did not know from whom."

One night the Moon, said this to me.

Lover's Tale

Lover's Tale
By: Donovan Baldwin

On wet gray stones my boot heels clattered,
Echoes from silent walls... as if it mattered,
That she and I had passed this way,
And, parted at the dawn of day.

One hurried night of thoughtless pleasure,
While taken to its coarsest measure,
Within my heart a bright light gleamed,
It had been more than what it seemed.

Touched, oh yes touched deeply by,
The lady who had caught my eye,
Who I had claimed so casually,
Yet, tossed aside so soon to be...

And yet, twas I was caught within,
As net of love rose from our sin,
And as I heard the first bell toll,
She left ME there, a joke so droll.

As I lay, unbelieving and heartsore,
She left my world and shut the door,
And let the darkness in my soul,
Yes, on ME a joke so droll.

Poem: I Missed You

By Donovan Baldwin

I missed you, you know...
I never told you,
You never knew,
But, I did.

I missed you, you know...
We were apart,
Much too long,
But, you're back.

I missed you, you know...
It made me sad,
Life without you,
But, I'm smiling.

I missed you, you know...
Happens every day,
A minute here and there,
But, we find us.

I missed you, you know...
Happened already today,
About five minutes ago,
But, now you're back.
