WHEN YOUR WORDS APPEAR, AND OTHER ORIGINAL POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, AUGUST 4, 2024

 when your words appear

i know poetry's arrived

because it's from you

-----

you frighten yourself

intensity of desires

bursting into flame

-----

in the august rain

drops tapping out a lover's tune

background to kisses

-----

didn't mind your sins

and then you accepted mine

shared and compared

-----

could have anyone

somehow she picked a poet

fairy tale of course

-----

wish my love to love

who and when and how she will

that is how i love

-----

suddenly you're here

granting me in loving ways

the gift of yourself

-----

you are the name of love

the delightful figure in the night

who shares the stars and moon

-----

never again to know

wild embrace of willing arms

the arching of delight

surging cries of ecstasy

-----

she so touched my heart

by giving me all of herself

entirely trusting

-----

how long will linger

thoughts of what we might have had

if fate were kinder

-----

i left you behind

took my memories with me

cruel to both of us

never forgot you

-----

watch for you daily

wishing and wondering if...

that's it that's all... if

-----

never been a lover

yet i've always been in love

with you and you and you

------

use me she told me

and so i did what she said

to break my own heart

-----

never weep for me

pain has all been caused by me

by loving too much

-----

life's been a struggle

how'd i ever get this far

without dying

-----

i typed love letters

well disguised as poetry

written just for you

-----

her eyes filled with love

lips to speak of sweet desire

yet remains faceless

-----

legs wrapped around me

held up by the wall and me

sex in the hallway

-----

would you if you could

do that thing you've not yet dared

yet dream of daily

-----

downpour of desire

daunting deluge of delight

delicious desserts

-----

wind stirs autumn leaves

raising them in colorful swirls

like billowing skirts

-----

you left me for dead

yet somehow i found the strength

to follow forever

-----

picking through your words

finding out your needs and wants

saving them in poems

-----

i write you often

yet you answer so seldom

yet i write again

-----

sprawled upon the bed

lovers' new positions of passion

tangled in each other

--...

capturing fingers

tightly woven pathway leads

him to her grotto

-----

i'm a silent man

just fingers know how to speak

i hope you hear them

-----

never heard you say

that you cared one bit for me

like i cared fo you

-----

he immerses her

in another baptism

of a carnal source

-----

i did it for you

write a poem about me

make me immortal

ALONE TOGETHER, AND OTHER ORIGINAL POETRY BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, AUGUST 3, 2024

alone together

hand in hand we stroll your paths

among your petals

-----

when YOU are ready

that's when the time will be right

let no one push you

-----

I've never met you

yet think about you often

set you down in words

-----

it's not about me

but i'm having so much fun

watching you take wing

-----

in some of your words

mark me down as accomplice

for the part i played

-----

i dreamed you loved me

something that can never be

let me have the dream

-----

looked into his sky

where she found a different star

pulsing with desire

-----

serene in the knowledge

that they'll never be perfect

accept for each other

-----

yours the only heart

calling to me with heartbeats

that my heart can hear

-----

it amazes me

so many poems you've caused

sharing your purpose

-----

hooked on poet's words

poems make her strip her soul

exposing herself

-----

keep my fire alive

feed me the fuel for my flames

your burning desires

-----

in love it matters

that our pleasing ourselves

makes each other happy

-----

holding her he asks

do your desires frighten you

let's conquer them together

-----

do i respect you

despite daring words you write

or because you dare write them

i hope you know why

-----

i always seek you

whether i'm happy or sad

because i always need you

-----

some won't understand

the way poetry releases

the body and mind

-----

hammer of fingers

taut and straining vibrations

shatter need's crystal

-----

why do i not speak

it's not my place or time

i am not wanted

-----

odd this memory

i remember loving you

in lives not YET lived

-----

i would give you all

if i had anything to give

other than poems

-----

poet falls silent

without words i am nothing

just whispers on a breeze

-----

i recall my youth

delicious and delightful sins

committed now in dreams

-----

much as i desire

you will never be my love

except in my heart

-----

she desires but fears

this offering of herself

for the sake of love

he'll never allow

the indiscriminate use

of body or soul

yet he will guide her

into darkness she desires

guard and protect her

-----

perhaps tomorrow

the day my love returns to me

back from her darkness

-----

naked you're floating

a dance upon my back

face down on my skin

Poem: I Missed You

By Donovan Baldwin

I missed you, you know...
I never told you,
You never knew,
But, I did.

I missed you, you know...
We were apart,
Much too long,
But, you're back.

I missed you, you know...
It made me sad,
Life without you,
But, I'm smiling.

I missed you, you know...
Happens every day,
A minute here and there,
But, we find us.

I missed you, you know...
Happened already today,
About five minutes ago,
But, now you're back.

Poem: Conversation With The Moon

By: Donovan Baldwin

One night I wandered aimlessly as
Night fell on mountain, plain, and sea.

I sighed, and sadly sang a mournful tune,
Which caught the ear of Lady Moon.

Moon wondered why I sat so sad,
And, spoke her wish that I be glad.

"But, Lady Moon," I wept to say,
My dearest love is far away.

Miles and miles from me she sleeps,
Between the sands and ocean deeps.

I love her greatly, yet cannot go,
Kneel at her feet to tell her so."

Lady Moon glowed then silver-white,
And, said, "I see her every night.

She gazes in the sky for me,
Sees secret lover's words from Thee.

She keeps your words locked in her heart,
And, dreams of days you're not apart.

Then, pressing moonbeams to her breast
In peaceful slumber takes her rest.

As memories of your silver song,
Play in her dreams til night is gone.

When the Sun, she wakes to see,
Her first words are that she loves thee.

You Are So Loved

By: Donovan Baldwin

You are so loved, that I,
As in my morning bed I lie,
Dream I'm resting by your side,
Sea, and love at highest tide,

We hear the waves on sandy shore,
Roll and beat, one more, one more,
And driven by each beating wave,
Reach for each other... hope to save...

The memory of that morning love,
Whole til death... beyond, above.
While loving you is wave within,
A rolling tide without an end.

Poem: This Thing Sweeps Over Me

By: Donovan Baldwin

I have lived with hurricanes,
And dared to ride the wind.

I love thunder and lightening, and,
Come alive in the stormiest of storms.

Challenge wakens my soul,
Causing me to stand tall and proud.

But, this thing sweeps over me,
Leaving me breathless and in awe.

It is the feeling that I feel,
When I think of her.

If I could hold her hand,
Encirle her waist with my arms,

Once kiss her lips with mine...

I am not sure that I could breathe.

Poem: I Wish That I Could Tell You

By Donovan Baldwin

So many times you've made me smile.
And, even break into laughter...
Or song,
Silly...

Giddy as a school boy in his first love,
Flooding with warmth and...
Happiness,
Wow...

Waking each day to look for you,
Hurrying to read your words...
Excited,
Eager...

You are the beginning and end for me,
And all in the middle...
Forever,
Always...

I wish that I could tell you,
How wonderful you are...
Special,
Rare...

I hope I just did.

Poem: If I Could Use My Words...

By: Donovan Baldwin

If I could use my words
I would use them to:

Tease you, tantalize you, tempt you,
Cajole, caress, and comfort you.
Take you, wrapped in love's embrace
To the heights of ecstasy,
And further still...

Until...

Gasping with the pleasure of the ride,
You collapsed with me once more,
Upon the breast of Earth.

I would use my words to:
Bring you to your knees,
Pledging undying love,
And a willingness to
Do my bidding in all ways
So that I could have the joy
Of freeing you from that pledge.

If I could use my words so well,
I would use them
To make you speak the truth
About the deepest secrets and desires
Within your heart.

And, with my words, I would assure
That you never doubted
Your secrets would be kept.
But, never could I use my words
To hurt, harm, or disrespect
The pure, sweet soul
Within your breast.

Poem: My Beloved's Secret Rose

By: Donovan Baldwin

My beloved has a sweet and secret rose.

A flower hidden from the view
Of all

But,

Sometimes she allows me
To see the beauty of its petals
And gently touch the beauteous bud
Within its sweet center.

When I am allowed by my love I press
My lips to that sweet flower,
And,
Like bee, butterfly, or hummingbird,
Sip the honeyed nectar that drips within.

So sweet, so sweet....

Not just the honey that drips,
But,
The love that asks me to taste
And sample the sweetness of her secret rose.

I close my eyes and I can see, taste,
And feel,
The petals of the rose against my cheeks,
And,
The taste of the honey of her love
Upon my tongue.

Like Before

Craving again to
feel assured
in the way
your arms provide
at the exact moment
your eyes rest on
mine
no thought for the room
surrounding me
in affirmations
leaving room for no
hesitations
leaping from doubt
to thought and
covering all
with words that
glide on my skin
like a leaf
drifting
on water
