SOME SECRET PICTURES AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, AUGUST 2, 2024

some secret pictures

taken from a secret place

reveal her secrets

-----

her hands harvesting

summer rains of her desires

her lover arrives

-----

man seeks to return

to the font from which he sprang

taste its salt sea tang

-----

she has found her place

within my mind's wild pleasures

necessary to them

-----

your body my page

skin quivers beneath my pen

as words come alive

-----

gasp of excitement

words like eager butterflies

fill her with pleasure

-----

from its hidden place

she selects a pleasure toy

and one of his poems

-----

a story for her

rousing and erotic tale

she has often dreamed

-----

always at her side

he helps explore her dark desires

the fuel for her fires

-----

as lace revealed her

she recognized the woman

she was meant to be

-----

two starving lovers

savor a feast of amour

their private banquet

-----

i remind myself

i'm too old to feel this way

yet again i do

-----

aloft upon your gale

soar as slow and steady winds

erupt into a gale

-----

left so far apart

best stars of the universe

different galaxies

-----

last scrap covering falls

steps naked into her new love

adventure awaits

-----

what's me without you

how empty would be my shell

if i can't have you

IF I COULD USE MY WORDS - A POEM BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

If I could use my words

I would use them to:

Tease you, tantalize you, tempt you,

Cajole, caress, and comfort you.

Take you, wrapped in love's embrace

To the heights of ecstasy,

And further still...

Until...

Gasping with the pleasure of the ride,

You collapsed with me once more,

Upon the breast of Earth.

I would use my words to:

Bring you to your knees,

Pledging undying love,

And a willingness to

Do my bidding in all ways

So that I could have the joy

Of freeing you from that pledge.

If I could use my words so well,

I would use them

To make you speak the truth

About the deepest secrets and desires

Within your heart.

And, with my words, I would assure

That you never doubted

Your secrets would be kept.

But, never could I use my words

To hurt, harm, or disrespect

The pure, sweet soul

Within your breast.

POEMS WRITTEN JANUARY 2, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

i'll find love today
in the place i always do
within your embrace

-----

show me your words babe
naked thoughts upon the stage
stripped down and open

-----

our pages touching
loving livre de chevet
each word a caress

(livre de chevet = bedside book)

-----

let's write together
a love story to be banned
too hot to handle

-----

Draw lovers naked
For if clothed,
They must still show
All that they are
To the other,
Expect to see
Everything
When they gaze upon
Their loved one.
No secrets or veils
No shame or
Embarrassment
Between true lovers.
Show them naked,
For naked they
Should always be.

-----

I gaze across the Texas prairie,
Stretching westward to infinity,
Or at least New Mexico,
Under the rolling gray clouds.
I've traveled beneath those clouds,
Or at least, their brethren,
In so many parts of the world,
The soft, billowing gray clouds,
Which should be sad,
Or at least, you'd think they were,
For I could travel forever
Gladly within their
Stormy promise of adventure.

-----

dying candle light
the rising of morning sun
smiles of remembrance

-----

Black deserted streets,
Shining wetly in moonlight,
Bright white snow on rooftops
And treetops,
Golden glow of windows
Upon the silent pathway,
The sounds of laughter,
Zither music and song
Spilling out like a
Motion picture postcard,
As a lonely soldier,
Thousands of miles from home,
Saved the memory for later.

-----

my words are flowers
i'll cover you with petals
tenderly fragrant

-----

michelangelo
i stand in admiration
in reverent awe

-----

Leaves which died
In Autumn,
So bravely and
So beautifully
Brilliant in
Their livery of
Golds and reds,
Now lie,
Dead soldiers,
Drab brown and gray,
Like photographs
From older wars,
In the cold pools,
Of nature's tears,
To be recalled only
In verse and photo,
Reminders of
Forgotten adventures.

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019

in your honeyed realm
entranced by dripping petals
thirsting for your love

-----

your mouth unwraps me
sweet words strip my concealment
lover left naked

-----

When words begin to come
They are driven by the winds
Blowing from some secret land
An island by the sea where
Lovers, we, walk hand in hand
Appraising sunsets, and,
The sand beneath our feet,
Stopping to exchange kisses
And caresses in the warm surf
At the edge of our own world.

-----

your lips to my lips
your soft sweet nectar soothing
insatiable thirst

-----

tantalizing tongue
offers more than poetry
at touching moments

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, AUGUST 20, 2019

Another ad hoc day,
Actions,
Expectations,
Chosen,
Followed on a whim,
For all plans,
Best laid,
Or badly formed,
Are at another's whim,
The gods who manipulate
This wobbly universe,
Causing us to roll and bounce
From proverbial pillar to post,
Leaving bruised egos
To remind us.

-----

i long to kiss you
though it will never happen
still i keep the dream

-----

i wish i was there
wherever you are right now
anything with you

-----

left behind alone
in rows of duplicate days
battling my boredom

-----

tell me what you want
show me how you want it done
for joint ecstasy

-----

circle of my arms
strong loving cage within which
we claim each other

-----

pouring of my soul
loving words burning ichor
glorious madness

-----

if we could but touch
one contact between our skins
thunder and lightning

-----

somewhere between words
hidden behind thoughts i've shared
a message for you

if were not for you
many words would not exist
on my life's pages

you are history
and a future fantasy
written about us

-----

i must love myself
there's no one else to do that
one personal thing

-----

do you dare to live
fantasies my mind fashions...
mutual pleasure?

-----

listen to the rain
hear the poetry it speaks
its wordless cantos

-----

My favorite philosophers and poets
Are often faceless unknowns,
Passed over by experts
Who should know better.
MY favorites lurk within
The clearance bins
Of musty bookstores,
Their words heard by few,
And grateful for the light
I shine on them, as I,
Am grateful for their light.

-----

Incomplete thoughts:

Aren't they all?

I think to go to a place where more thoughts lead away on multiple paths.

My ADD/ADHD brain recognizes and accepts this, but, many people expect to "arrive" and put down roots.

Much has changed in my lifetime. One constant. Things change.

-----

i would not do that
not fall in love just once more
as i've said before

-----

forgive my desire
the sight of your naked mind
is so arousing

-----

i trust your touches
from your loving hands or mind
i'm open to you

-----

You look into mirrors,
Eyes gazing at you,
Seeing there a broken self.
I understand your pain
From the blows of life,
But, you are still here,
Still withstanding, and,
Acquiring,
A sculpted elegance
That comes to those
Who stand against the storm,
That IS your unbroken beauty.

-----

beneath the sunrise
welcoming sunflowers bloom
they cause me to smile

SHORT LOVE POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN January 24, 2019

WALKING AS A BALLERINA

Neither mirror nor photographer.
I cannot show you as you appear.
Look into my words,
Read them as they roll,
Unbidden, in loving honesty,
From mind and fingers.
See the woman I see,
And you will stand straight and tall,
Walking proud and beautiful.
On tiptoe as a ballerina.

-----

A RAGGED MAN

I see your words, as
You say,
Or try to say,
That you are broken.
I understand.
I am too.
I've been putting myself back together,
For nearly 30 years.
Not complete.
But, I try to show the parts of me I can,
Ragged edged...
Glued and stitched as they may be.

----=

JUST AROUND THE CORNER

A sudden glimpse,
Of what?
Almost anything,
Suddenly we are almost together.
A touch of something,
Soft fabric perhaps?
A scent...
A perfume?
A flower?
Wafting by momentarily
On a random breeze...
A snippet of a song...
There you are...
Just out of reach,
Just around that corner.

-----

MY WORDS RUN TO YOU

My words see you,
Run to you,
Tripping over themselves,
In their eagerness to
Wrap themselves around you,
Taking the essence of you
Into their being,
So that they will become,
Better, more loving words,
That can embrace the world,
Sharing the love,
The beauty,
That you give them.

-----

I CAN NEVER REALLY LOSE YOU

I can never really lose you.
Not just part of my life.
You are a part of me,
Of who I am.
I make decisions as if you are here,
By my side,
Pointing, laughing,
Changing me, my heart,
With an eyebrow's lift,
A questioning smile,
A reassuring touch,
That I'm on the right path.

-----

IN MY DAILY FANTASY

In my daily fantasy,
You write to me,
Words I put in your heart,
Pledges of love,
Stories of dreams,
Sharing of pleasure,
Adventure,
Life,
And love...
You write so well,
So lovingly,
With the words...
I put in your heart.

Poem: Were I To Love

Were I To Love
By: Donovan Baldwin

Were I to love,
And never speak,
The words of love,
Rattling in my head,
How empty would
My world be.

For love must have,
The sounds of love,
The words, the winds,
The thunderstorms,
The quiet breezes,
That fill the skies.

Were I to love,
And never show,
The gestures and,
My wide eyed smile,
How would she know,
My inmost thoughts.

For love must have,
The sights of love,
The sunlight, moonlight,
The brightest blossoms,
The emerald seas,
Where love sails.

Were I to love,
And never kiss,
The dear soft lips,
Which smile at me,
For fear of failure,
How would I know?

For love must have,
The moment joined,
The passion shared,
The vows and oaths,
The uniting of the two,
That makes them one.

Poem: Hide Me

By Donovan Baldwin

Hide me in your heart, dear,
From those two cruel, and,
Endlessly encroaching beasts,
The brothers, age and time.

Protect me in your warm arms,
Hold me tightly to your breast,
So, when time comes and I leave,
Some part of me may stay with you.

Lock my memory deep within,
Some secret place which only,
May be visited by you, and,
A god who loves lost poets.

Sing my songs, sweet Mayari,
Charming goddess of the Moon,
And write my name forever,
With silver lines upon the sea.

O, you Wondrous one,
Who came into my life so late,
Know you turned back time,
With your gift of youth to age.

Poem: This Thing Sweeps Over Me

By: Donovan Baldwin

I have lived with hurricanes,
And dared to ride the wind.

I love thunder and lightening, and,
Come alive in the stormiest of storms.

Challenge wakens my soul,
Causing me to stand tall and proud.

But, this thing sweeps over me,
Leaving me breathless and in awe.

It is the feeling that I feel,
When I think of her.

If I could hold her hand,
Encirle her waist with my arms,

Once kiss her lips with mine...

I am not sure that I could breathe.

Poem: Love Unspoken

By Donovan Baldwin

Love Unspoken

You hear me say, "I love you",
And yet...

I often say, "I love you",
Without you hearing,
Without a sound,
Without an action...

I say, "I love you",
So many times each day,
In so many ways...

In dreams, and hopes,
And songs sung loud,
Hummed,
Or just thought...

In images, and art, and poetry,
And all the sights and sounds,
Of ordinary days,
Made extrordinary,
By you...

You hear me say, "I love you",
And yet...

If you could ever hear,
All the love unsaid,
The sound would be wonderful,
And deafening...

So, sometimes, I leave...
Love unspoken.
