LUSTY VERBAL FOREPLAY, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN APRIL 24, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

exchanging poems
in lusty verbal foreplay...
we make poetry

-----

her subtle weapon
secret spear which pierces me...
exhausted i fall

-----

live stream the in thing
running water at sunrise...
the live stream for me

-----

artist awakens
random strokes of red and gold...
dark sky becomes dawn

-----

I write because my fingers say I must,
The burn within will lessen
Only when the energy is used
To push a pen.

Press the keys! Push on!
Let words and thoughts tumble
One over and around the other,
Like puppies playing..

This is joy, you know,
This mad rush of happy.

(Scribbled in a notebook 22 Mar 1994)

------

shade of yesterday
moving as if yet alive...
as ghost among ghosts

(Last line borrowed from "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco.)

-----

I can but reflect
That which has form..
Mirror creates not
The image it reveals,
Nor echo the sound,
It reverberates, for,
Those are realities,
Echo and mirror produce
Not the thing but
Representations...
As my words
Are but shadows,
Of realities
I live.

-----

Long ago
I planted a rose,
Joseph's coat.
It marked a spot,
A memory of mine,
The corner of a fence
Where a treasure
Was once buried.
Flower now gone,
Leaving two memories
For me to hold,
The beauty of the roses,
And the meaning
Of the place it grew.

-----

Journey of
Child to man,
Up and down
The shelves of
A library, one
Book leading
To another,
From space,
To frontier,
To scene
Of the crime,
Detectives and
Cowboys and
Spacemen
Philosophizing,
Repeating
Pretty poetry,
And other
Thoughts
To fill my
Brain.

-----

head upon my chest
her slow sweet breath warming me...
stoking fires within

-----

loving simple ways
our candid intimacy...
innately casual

-----

rain falls from the sky
drops upon blackberry vines...
soon to bear their fruit

-----

delicate blossom
shyly opens to soft touch...
eyes still closed she smiles

FINGERS CARESS SKIN, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN APRIL 7, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

fingers caress skin
most arousing sensation...
i ache with desire

-----

show me no regrets
let pleasure overtake you...
it's what we're here for

-----

kisses like petals
gently touch me up and down...
and we both blossom

-----

naive innocence
queen of seductive powers...
secret sorceress

-----

the fragrance of you
i breathe in waves of passion...
arousal in the air

-----

her lust does not tarnish
arising from love's desire...
angelic human

-----

your softest whisper
reaches me from far away...
moon our messenger

-----

color fills her cheeks
her breast rises fast and full...
irresistible

THE NUDES OF RENOIR, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN WRITTEN FEBRUARY 21, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

the nudes of renoir
tangible impressionism
body and senses

-----

quivering with want
awaiting satisfaction
anticipation

-----

undulating need
dance to a lusty refrain
only she can hear

-----

alone in her lust
desiring hot caresses
what's a girl to do

-----

glistening body
tastes of salt and her desire
as i drink her love

-----

gliding cross your skin
fingertips arousing me
as they arouse you

-----

flowing through my veins
the drug which you feed to me
within your kisses

-----

touch the bloom's middle
it opens in surrender
yields up its honey

-----

saved one precious rose
placed it on a shelf somewhere
reminds me of you

-----

let my touches move
through your shy secret garden
of blushing petals

-----

do you know my world
of flowers and sunrises
and thoughts about you

-----

carved from pure marble
lightly clad nymph emerges...
seeking a lover

HER BOSOM HEAVING FROM THE CLIMB, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN JANUARY 19, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin
Daphnis and Chloe by Nicolaes Verkolje
Her bosom heaving from the climb,
Up the hill of winds, or,
From the crushing embrace
Of her lover emerging from
The mist of the woods into
The light upon the heath,
To take her in his arms
Parting the reeds of the pool
To drink the waters of love,
Until all is silent and
They rest in joined slumber.

-----

i write poetry
caresses meant for your heart
touching more than flesh

-----

my love a blanket
comforting not smothering
you wrap yourself in

-----

hands do more than feel
they trace runes upon our skin
rituals of lust

-----

My mind is restless,
And cannot settle.
It drags me from novel,
To poetry,
Philosophy and essay,
Back again to
Medieval plots,
The love affairs of kings,
And murders by monks.
My mind,
Restless,
In search of
Its own words.

-----

I remember the shore,
The sea, listening to
The high wind which
Blows in from
Somewhere,
With a story it
Might be trying to tell me...
Or, am I making up
A fable of my own,
From a hundred books,
Innumerable imaginings
Woven
From sun, and sand, and sea,
And the unceasing voices
I hear in the wind?

POEMS, COMMENTS, AND HAIKU BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, SEPTEMBER 30, 2019

friction creates heat
rub each other the right way
and the sparks will fly

-----

memories of love
something which not yet happened
future history

-----

loving the wonder
of your quivering body
in throes of passion

-----

journey into dreams
unfolding upon our bed
love's awakening

-----

sharing mingled breath
whispering love mouth to mouth
bodies caressing

-----

beneath sun dried sheets
stiffly hiding our desires
deep within their folds

-----

loving on the beach
under a common blanket
to the beat of surf

-----

sugar sweet kisses
sharing treats of touch and taste
loving our dessert

-----

our inhibitions
dissolved in the heat of lust
purified by love

POEM: DANCE FOR ME, SALOME

By Donovan Baldwin

Dance for me, Salome,
Move in that fabled way
As you once did for Herod,
Demanding all he had to offer,
For your reward.

As you did him,
Make me insane with lust and want,
Push me to the place,
Where all else fades,
But you...

And nothing matters,
But my dark desire for you...
Woman...

Who can rule my heart,
Capturing its beat,
Within the movements of her body,
Stirring it with,
Designs drawn with hands and arms and legs...
Illuminated by
The dark lightning of her eyes.

Define my existence,
With just a look, a word,
A move.

Dance that sinful way for me,
Show me the steps which lead
To Heaven,
Or to Hell...

Just one time.

Dance for me that way...
Salome.
