LOVE'S MOST NATURAL TOUCHES - A POEM BY DONOVAN BALDWIN

The raw beauty of nature's embrace

Hot sunlight on her bare skin,

The intimate touch of leaves and wind,

And the sensual caresses of rain.

Her emotions run wild with the

Captivating pleasures that

Transport her to a world,

Where, touched by natural words,

She responds as if to

Love's most natural touches.

NATURAL DESTRUCTION - AN ESSAY

By Donovan Baldwin

We think, and talk, a lot about "nature" and, somehow, often seem to assume that homo sapiens, that destructive and abusive species, is, in some way NOT natural.

Oh, we do create artificial machines and devices which can do stuff, often destructive stuff, at levels previously unimaginable in the history of mankind. No doubt of that.

But, amid all the "destruction" real, imagined, revealed, hidden, lurks one aspect of homo sapiens which I feel is often overlooked.

While it may SEEM to be part of our "nature" to destroy, tear up, and use the rest of the "natural" world, there always seems to be people working to restore, repair, regenerate... often using the same mechanics, science, and technology capable of causing the "destruction" in the first place.

I put "destruction" in quotes because, often that tearing down or tearing up of things is done to make things to satisfy the rest of us who desire to have the fruits of the labors of those tearing stuff up and down.

I have no idea, statistically, who's "winning". I just know that in the battle for Earth, leaving aside attacks by intelligent aliens, there's more than one "army" at work... often just small platoons, if you will, maybe even marauders, on both sides.

It seems to be "natural" for some of us to take, and some of us to give. We sometimes even benefit from the efforts of the takers.

No answers, as usual, but, thinking out loud makes me feel better about "nature" and the "natural" process of things.

Relying On Natural Things

By: Donovan Baldwin

If there's one thing we should learn from social media and the internet, it's that words can be used in almost any fashion...and not always honestly.

There are certain words we like to use, and to here about. We see them in advertisements and in news articles. Most of the time when we see words, such as "natural", as in natural ingredient, natural remedy, or natural solution, we ten to assume that, somehow, "natural" means good...maybe even "better"!

Not always so. As I like to point out, rattlesnake venom is "natural" as are heart attacks. In fact, science has often been able to improve on the performance of natural remedies and ingredients.

There are companies whose reputation rests almost entirely on natural products, usually having to do with health and fitness, but, also with home care and cleaning.

This is commendable in some respects. I like the idea of using some natural product, such as Shaklee Herb-Lax® Natural Laxative, to provide a natural remedy, approved by Mother Nature herself to solve my digestive problems.

Still, whether the product is "natural" or not, the proof is in the pudding. A natural solution should be put to the same tests, and held to the same standard, as any other product.

Disclaimer: My wife is an independent Shaklee distributor.

Just Doing What Comes Natural

By: Donovan Baldwin

I have always been interested in health, exercise, and fitness.

In fact, over the years I have written and published several articles on those subjects.

Even so, I try NOT to be a "health nut".

Not to say that's a bad thing, it's just my personal desire and interest to balance who I am, and what I do, with the realities of the world, and my own beliefs and desires.

I believe in "natural food", keeping in mind that "natural" is not a magic word.

Rattlesnake venom is natural, as is gravity acting on an avalanche above a busy ski slope.

However, within the constraints of my reality, caregiver for two people, I try to avoid unnecessary, and "unnatural" ingredients in my food. I usually cook my own meat, fix raw or steamed vegetables, eat things such as bell peppers, thanks to a certain someone who cares about my health, and other raw vegetables and fruits.

I'm not perfect, but, I try.

Because of my personal obligations, and their affect on time and energy, prepared foods still appear in my diet sometimes.

Still, I look for solutions.

The other day, with this in mind, I checked a "Paleo" meal in the frozen food section of my local Walmart. Lots of pretty veggies and meat visible through the wrapping.

Then, I read the ingredients...after the meat and veggies, it read like a chemist's shopping list.

Often, we try to do the "right thing", but, there are hidden pitfalls we don't always recognize.

Don't believe me?

Try to give up sugar.

Read labels. You'll see what I mean.
