STROKING THE PETALS, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN FEBRUARY 17, 2020

By Donovan Baldwin

stroking the petals
seeking the flower's last song
rapt in its rhythm

-----

fingers play within
caressing blushing petals
solo crescendo

-----

morning caresses
sleepy purrings of pleasure
becoming deep growls

-----

she averts her eyes
ladylike in demeanor
smiles sneaking a peek

-----

hide not true feelings
a real lady may display
honorable lust

-----

caressing ribbons
she neath my words thoughts gazes
hidden and then seen

-----

Don't seek hidden meanings
In what I write.
Oh, they're there, but,
They are my meanings,
Blended in from
My life experiences,
My pains,
My pleasures,
My beliefs,
Truisms
And fallacies.
But, you cannot know that all,
Nor see with my eyes.
See with your own,
And find your own truths.

-----

i sing for today
yesterday's songs are over
tomorrow's not born

-----

we watch the bright moon
it's in its place we in ours
apart in her light

-----

you are in my heart
free to stay and free to leave
never really gone

-----

you are poetry
words and rhythms within me
origin and end

-----

my colorful words
woven within errant thoughts
written tapestry

-----

take in what i can
keep some lose some give up some
my eclectic art

-----

in my solitude
i searched within for beauty
found it around me

-----

Bare feet on hot white sand,
The offshore wind
A constant song in my ears,
The sun warming me
From head to toe,
The waters of the bay
Whispering over and over,
The same story
That oceans tell
To boys all about the world
On the edge of all their oceans.
