POET'S WORDS LIKE MOLTEN EMBERS - POEM
By Donovan Baldwin
Poet's words like molten embers
Erotic stories he remembers
She inhales his searing thought
Igniting flames she has fought..
In secret to contain,
But no longer can restrain.
Her back arched, bows to the Muse
Battle fought, now she must lose...
Love's arrows pierce her eager skin
Willing target lets them in...
Her body full of passion's fires,
Her mind toward ecstasy aspires.
Her lips burned by the poet's flame,
Speaks his words, cries out his name.
She is consumed, but not forlorn
For like a Phoenix fast reborn.
From the eager flames that bite
She rises glowing into the night.
Now he's her victim on her bed,
As she circles overhead.
In her mind the words remain,
Echoing again again...
She draws her poet to her breast,
Until the next fires they shall rest.

HER DEEPEST KISSES, AND OTHER SHORT POEMS, APRIL 3, 2023
her deepest kisses
leave tastes of sin on my lips...
and desires for more
-----
fearful of desires
but longing for their hot flames...
clutched her poet's hand
-----
stirring her embers
she explodes in ecstasy...
thus he makes her whole
-----
taught her not to fear
the heat of her own fires...
his heart in her flames
-----
her blush fast rising
ahead of my passing lips...
a breeze of kisses
-----
she weeps as she reads
his old tattered manuscript...
book of ancient scars
-----
seeking not to hide
out of love before his eyes...
exposes her secrets
-----
two soft voices blend
innocents in paradise...
flowers all they wear
-----
poet who loves her
puts more than words in her mouth...
stretching to a smile
-----
you can't see yourself
genuine wonder you are...
so i will show you
-----
sitting and waiting
for whatever time may bring...
i'm ready for it
-----
shadwos on the page
letters scattered off and hid...
poems meant for her
-----
long i've shadowed you
secrets hidden among poems...
i hoped would trap you
-----
now time draws away
only echoes surrond me...
and useless poems
------
yet i follow you
along the path you've chosen...
love's hope never dies
-----
having made love
i set down pen and lift glass...
relive what i wrote

EACH TIME SHE LOOKS AT ME
Each time she looks at me
I hear wild distant music
Something from another
Ancient place and time
When fire and passion
And a mystic dance at
The edge of darkness
Resolved itself into an
Intimacy in the shadows
Beyond the reaches of the light.

SHE HIDES SECRET SINS, AND OTHER POEMS BY DONOVAN BALDWIN, WRITTEN JUNE 9, 2020
she hides secret sins
behind sweet smile and soft words...
i love her true self
-----
We blend voices,
The world and I,
It singing softly with
Evening breezes,
Roaring with excitement,
In storms and gales,
Lashing, drumming with
Hard driven rain,
Or tapping gently
Against window panes
One drop at a time,
It sings in so many
Voices, as I write
Words for its songs.
-----
hovers in the night
loving little hummingbird...
sipping moon flowers
-----
earth shows me beauty
i make pictures in my mind...
old well thumbed album
-----
Something about a fire,
A real fire, burning crackling wood,
Not a tame fireplace thing,
An outside fire with trees,
The special darkness of outside,
Gold flames dancing joyfully,
Lighting faces and imaginations,
Something real and primitive which
Directly touches the human soul.
-----
i can't see your face
yet i remember each line...
drawn from memory
-----
Naked in the bay,
Before the sun rose
Swimming in the
Morning's misty coolness,
Bare boy glorying in
The innocent touches
Of air and water
Unaware that someday,
Such free and
Loving caresses,
Unconditional freedom,
Would only be found
In a lover's arms.
-----
voices in the night
whisper explicit desires...
moans sighs and silence

POEM: THIS DARK FIRE
I know well,
This dark fire of which
Rostand did speak.
It burns without burning, flames
Dancing to a music only certain
Mad poets hear, blinded by
The dark dark fire
Which burns so high
Warming body and soul
To blazing fevers that signal
A special kind of illness,
That never quite ends,
And can never be healed
On earth.
