ALL HER BUTTERFLIES, AND OTHER SHORT POEMS, MARCH 29, 2023

By Donovan Baldwin

all her butterflies

stilled their wings beneath his touch...

and blossomed for him

-----

speaking smiles and tears

her feelings come pouring out...

turns ash to embers

-----

poet wakens to

random strokes of red and gold...

dawn's sky becomes words

-----

when i'm in my dark

she's the fire and flame i seek...

sunrise to my night

-----

lone blossom unfolds

as silent poet watches...

becomes a poem

-----

ordinary things

extraordinary things...

when we're together

-----

sweet and gentle smile

touching me with love's starlight...

gleaming messages

-----

taught her to love him

learned she's lived without laughter...

that's his next challenge

-----

fears to acknowledge

words she reads so eagerly...

which touch her inside

-----

exchanging verses

in verbalistic foreplay...

making poetry

-----

what i would permit

that which you need to explore...

help you find yourself

neither blessing nor curse

merely a true act of love...

which does not bind you

and though others might

you and i won't call it sin...

simply name it love

-----

lascivious lass

reading ribald risqué rhymes...

secretly sighing

-----

fingers trace her lips

seeking her moist poetry...

words he wants to taste

-----

her desire's bow bent

she nocks her tiny arrow...

pleasure's dart shot free

-----
