MY LUSTY TIGER, AND OTHER POEMS WRITTEN AUGUST 8, 2020 BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
BY DONOVAN BALDWIN
my lusty tiger
who pounces passionately...
upon willing prey
-----
bring your fiery love
never hesitant or shy...
burn me with your flames
-----
rising to heaven
locked in midst of passion's storm...
in carnal embrace
-----
much cannot be told
about the moment we kissed...
and what happened next
-----
hesitant touches
and then as we draw nearer...
bodily contact
-----
if i held you close
i fear my two hands would stray...
and that's a promise
-----
can i write of love
without writing poetry...
it's not happened yet
-----
mix together love
both the sacred and profane...
in equal portions
-----
a state of knowledge
beyond mere understanding...
where two become one
-----
If I draw your picture,
I draw it in running water,
Or, sand kissed each moment
By the peaceful waves,
For there is no one you,
You are as beautiful and
As changing as the water
Which I have loved
Since I was a small boy, and,
That water ran with me,
Played at my side,
And touched me in ways,
That only a lover can.
-----
loathe to bare her mind
distracts me with her body...
i want to have both
-----
I perform in private,
Secretly in solitude
Seeking to evoke
The most exciting
Rewarding sensations,
Rubbing the extremity
In hopes that an
Outpouring release
Will be the result of
My attempt to find
A climax of poetry.
-----
I remember,
Dancing with Eileen,
First time as a boy
I held a girl,
The heightening
Of senses,
Sparkle of the moment,
Pleasure of
Her female body
Beneath my hand,
The mysterious heat
Pleasantly shared
Between us,
All I did not understand
But desired more of.
-----
I was late for the funeral.
Missed a flight in Germany.
Drove all night from the Carolinas.
In Florida, they moved the casket
Into another room and waited,
Until I, in my uniform, entered,
Late, though no one seemed to mind,
And saw my father for the last time.
-----
The street's as narrow
As it was when I, a boy, lived
In the house on the corner
And delivered the papers
Over half a century ago.
Present residents
Are not aware of me
Any more than that
Secret sidewalk hidden
Deeper beneath the dirt
Than when I was a boy.
-----
she offers a feast
of the sweet honey i crave...
desert in a cup
